In a shocking statement, musician/actor Jack Black said he had canceled the rest of the Tenacious D world tour after his bandmate, Kyle Gass, sparked an outcry with his comment about the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.

When Gass was presented with a cake onstage for his birthday, he was asked to make a wish:

“Don’t miss Trump next time,” the bandmate said in jest.

Jack Black immediately took to Instagram to say he was  “blindsided” by the comment.

“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” the comedian and actor wrote.

He said he didn’t feel it was “appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour”, and that the rest of the group’s “creative plans are on hold”.

Meanwhile, Gass apologized, calling it a “severe lack of judgment.”

He wrote: “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.
