A new poll from  Fox News is raising alarms inside Republican circles after President Donald Trump posted his lowest approval numbers yet among GOP voters.

The survey, conducted May 15-18, found Trump’s overall approval rating sinking to 39%, while frustration over inflation, rising gas prices and the administration’s controversial $1.8 billion January 6 compensation fund appeared to be eroding support even within his own party.

According to the poll, Republican confidence in Trump’s handling of the economy has softened sharply, with non-MAGA Republicans showing the biggest drop in support. Fox’s polling also found growing concern among GOP voters over the cost of living and fears the party could face a difficult midterm election cycle.

The numbers mark a striking shift for Trump, whose support among Republicans has historically remained overwhelmingly strong despite political controversies and legal battles. Political analysts say the latest polling reflects broader anxiety over economic conditions and divisions within the Republican Party heading into the 2026 elections.

The White House dismissed the poll, arguing voters will ultimately reward Trump’s economic agenda once inflation cools and fuel prices stabilize.
