More than a dozen House Democrats are launching an investigation into FBI Director Kash Patel’s ‘alleged alcohol abuse’ and calling on the FBI director to submit to the 10-question Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test by next week.

After the Atlantic wrote a daming report about Patel’s ‘excessive drinking’, whose behavior has even alarmed the administration, the Democrats are pushing for an investigation.

Officials told The Atlantic they’ve worried for months about what happens if there’s a domestic terrorist attack while Patel is in charge. That fear has “increased significantly” since the Iran war began. “That’s what keeps me up at night,” one official said.

One official captured the entire catastrophe in a single sentence: “We don’t have a real functioning FBI director.”

“We understand that you have sued the journalists who have reported on the widespread concerns about your job performance and alcohol abuse, demanding a whopping $250 million in damages, plus disgorgement of income,” the letter states.

“However, the American people deserve to hear the facts directly from you now — not your lawyers weeks or months from now — to determine for ourselves whether your continued leadership of the FBI in fact constitutes a severe ‘national security vulnerability,’” according to the letter.
