As Stephanie Rivin, winemaker and co-owner of French Blue Wines, likes to say, their vino is ‘French Soul, American Inspired.’

Rivin grew up in the wine country of Mendocino, California, and learned everything she could about making wines.

Still, she felt that the complexity of French wines—ranking, Château names, terroir, and the complex classification system—was confusing and offputting to many wine lovers.

She reasoned that a delicious wine made in a straightforward style—say, French wines with an American twist—would appeal to everyone.

Voila! French Blue.

Rivin introduced a light and fresh French Blue Bordeaux Rosé, followed soon after by the Bordeaux Blanc (white), Bordeaux Rouge (red), Crémant de Bordeaux Brut (sparkling), and Crémant de Bordeaux Brut Rosé (pink sparkling). (All wines are made from the traditional grapes in the region.)

We tried most of the line (someone had to do it) and were duly impressed. As fans and consumers of French wine, we compared them to some of our favorites and found French Blue as good as and sometimes better than our usual! (The French Blue Bordeaux Rosé was our favorite.)
