Breaking News:

A Texas militia member, Guy Wesley Reffitt, has just been found guilty of assaulting cops during the Capitol riot in the first January 6 criminal trial. Prosecutors said he ‘lit the match that started the fire.’

The guilty verdict came quickly after testimony from police officers, a Secret Service agent, his son, and members of the Texas Three Percenters militia group to which Reffitt belongs.

Why is this such big news?

This is the first time federal prosecutors have brought a criminal case before a jury and now they can go after hundreds of defendants who have not taken plea deals.

The evidence was overwhelming and included Reffitt’s own video where he brags:

‘I didn’t come here to play – I’m taking the Capitol. I just want to see Pelosi’s head hitting every stair on the way out.’

Prosecutors were also able to charge him with threatening his teenage children with harm if they turned him in to authorities after the attack.

It was Reffitt’s son Jackson, all of 19, who turned his father into the FBI, even though Reffitt had threatened him as well.

‘If you turn me in, you’re a traitor,” Jackson Reffitt told jurors during his testimony. ”And traitors get shot.”
