After Dubai was hit with missile strikes from Iran as the war with the US and Israel drags on, tourism has plummeted.
Though most of the missiles were intercepted, the attacks damaged some of its most famous landmarks, including the five-star Fairmont The Palm resort and the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab hotel.
Hotel occupancy rates plunged from a whopping 80% to 10% as visitors stayed away.
In an effort to lure them back, Dubai is now offering UAE residents and citizens ‘reward packages’ worth up to AED 3,000 (around $816) in exchange for convincing relatives or friends to come and visit.
Called “A Dubai Invite,” those aged 18-plus with a valid Emirates ID can recommend up to three guests for stays commencing between now and October 31, with benefits including hotel stays and dining offers.
Keep in mind that travel warnings are still in place for the UAE from various governments. The US urges travelers to reconsider travel to the country.
