Dr. Anthony Fauci and Senator Rand Paul have been sparring partners for a while now.
A Senate hearing on the federal government’s Covid response turned ugly when Senator Rand Paul personally attacked Fauci (again) accusing the Doctor of ‘plotting with colleagues to undermine scientists with opposing views.’
Dr. Fauci says he has received death threats while working to end the pandemic because of Paul’s false claims, citing the example of the arrest last month of a man with an AR-15 rifle who police said was driving to D.C. with a ‘hit list.’
Accusing Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday of raising campaign funds off false attacks on him that have encouraged threats on Fauci’s life, Dr. Fauci didn’t hold back.
“What happens when [Paul] gets out and accuses me of things that are completely untrue,” Fauci said, “is that all of a sudden that kindles the crazies out there, and I have … threats upon my life, harassment of my family and my children with obscene phone calls because people are lying about me.”
