The FDA just ruled that the Narcan nasal spray can be sold over the counter without a prescription. Narcan can save a life by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose within minutes.

Experts hope to roll out distribution to all pharmacies and also supermarkets, gas stations, and wherever people shop.

Many doctors feel that we should ‘normalize’ Narcan and add it to our medicine cabinets as if it were Tylenol. For those who are around people deemed ‘high risk,’ should carry it with them at all times.

As one doctor said “Right now, we have a tragedy of people taking fentanyl-laced pills and dying. Many are young people who aren’t aware that what they are taking contains this extremely potent opioid that can kill them.”

Many schools are already stocking the drug and advocates for Narcan are pushing for it to be covered by insurance and Medicare.
