Turns out, the Dodger’s phenom, Shohei Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, can also ‘pitch.’
The Dutch Kooikerhondje perfectly carried out the ceremonial first pitch Thursday night.
Proudly wearing his own Dodgers uniform, Decoy patiently waited on the pitcher’s mound until Ohtani crouched at home plate.
Then Decoy grabbed the ball in his mouth and ran it over to Ohtani while the crowd widely cheered.
Then Decoy gave his owner a high-five with his paws.
In an interview after the game, Ohtani said it took him three weeks to train Decoy for the pitch.
“I think I was more nervous for the ceremonial pitch than Decoy,” Ohtani said. “But I’m glad everything went well.’
Give him ‘MVP’ (‘most valuable pet’) right now.
