According to multiple sources, a deal to release 50 women and children held hostage by Hamas in exchange for a temporary cease-fire could be announced as soon as today.

A Hamas leader said earlier that the group was “close to reaching a truce agreement.”

Besides the four-to-five-day pause in fighting, three Palestinian prisoners in Israel would be freed for every civilian hostage released.

President Biden cautioned:

“We’re now very close. Very close. And could bring some of these hostages home very soon. I don’t want to get into the details of things because nothing is done until it’s done. When we have more to say, we will. But things are looking good at the moment.”
