On Monday, the US Capitol Police cleared the officer who shot and killed pro-Trump rioter Ashli Babbitt on January 6. In fact, the US Capitol police concluded that the ‘officer’s actions potentially saved Members and staff from serious injury and possible death from a large crowd of rioters who forced their way into the U.S. Capitol.’

You remember this:
The incensed crowd tried to push through to the Speaker’s Lobby in the Capitol building as the Capitol police bravely barricaded the doors and tried to protect the Senators inside when Babbitt tried to force her way in, resulting in the officer shooting her. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“USCP’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) determined the officer’s conduct was lawful and within Department policy, which says an officer may use deadly force only when the officer reasonably believes that action is in the defense of human life, including the officer’s own life, or in the defense of any person in immediate danger of serious physical injury,” the department said in a statement.
The officer will not be named, the department said, out of consideration for the officer’s safety.
