Friday the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation pledged another $250million to fight COVID, after already contributing $1.75 billion.

‘Whether (the world) gets better for everyone depends on the actions of the world’s leaders and their commitment to deliver tests, treatments and vaccines to the people who need them,’ said Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Gates Foundation.

But Bill Gates warned that it’s going to get worse before it gets better, saying on the TODAY Show that ‘The next four or five months actually look pretty grim, unless we can really double down on our behavior.’

He stressed that ‘the most impactful thing’ that people can do at this time to help stop the spread of the virus is to wear masks and avoid being around large groups of people.

But he ended on an optimistic note, talking about the ‘amazing’ vaccines:

‘By the spring, those numbers [of vaccinated people] will be big enough that, certainly in the United States, it’ll start to change for us dramatically, and we’ll be headed back to normal,’ he predicted.
