After the White House acknowledged that President Biden’s lawyers had discovered a ‘handful’ of classified documents at his former office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, Biden expressed surprise.

“After I was briefed about the discovery, I was surprised to learn that there are any government records that were taken to that office,” he said at news conference in Mexico.

Lawyers who were packing up his office discovered the docs and immediately handed them over to the National Archives.

Mr. Biden said on Tuesday that his lawyers had acted quickly and appropriately: They immediately called the archives to turn over the materials.

“We’re cooperating fully — cooperating fully — with the review, which I hope will be completed soon,” he said.
