In the wake of the horrific terror attacks on New Zealand mosques that claimed at least 50 lives, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed on Monday evening that the government is moving to reform the county’s gun laws. Not in the ‘near future’ but within three days. On the table: ban semi-automatic weapons;  a create a gun buyback program; ban private ownership of semi-automatic guns, and requiring more types of guns to be registered.

Unlike the US, which after each mass shooting offers up ‘hope and prayers.’ We’ve seen how effective that approach has been.
