After a chaotic morning in which reporters were turned away despite a federal judge ordering the Trump administration to immediately restore their access, journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico have finally been allowed back onto the White House grounds.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary restraining order early Thursday requiring the administration to “immediately return, reinstate, and restore” the outlets’ press access for 14 days. But hours later, reporters said they were still being blocked, with at least one journalist’s credentials reportedly confiscated by the Secret Service.
By Thursday afternoon, CNN and MS NOW confirmed their reporters had been permitted to return, with journalists making their way back into the designated outdoor media tents on the White House grounds. The Trump administration subsequently said in a court filing that access had been restored, at least for now.
