As the death toll from the Iran war climbed on Friday and gas prices rose persistently, Trump deployed 5,000 Marines to the Hormuz Strait, which is critical for the world’s oil suppply. (A fifth of the world’s oil flows through Hormuz.)

Pete Hegseth earlier slammed reporters at a press briefing at the Pentagon, calling out  ‘fake headlines’ about the war and claiming ‘we’re dealing with’ the Strait, adding ‘you don’t need to worry about it.’

The new deployment raises fears that deploying troops to Iran is next, something Trump promised he would never do.
