Capanna Regina Margherita is famous for being the highest mountain hut in the Alps, but you can only get there by hiking. Used primarily by mountaineers, it is the highest building in Europe.

It was initially opened in 1893 as a research station but then renovated in 1980.

You can only visit in the summer, from early June to early September, the exact dates varying from year to year. For crazy dare-devil climbers, there are 12 beds in the winter in the unmanned facility.

Not recommended for those afraid of heights.
