A new round of controversy erupted after Mehmet Oz claimed that Donald Trump believes Diet Coke can kill cancer cells, a statement that quickly drew backlash from medical experts and public health advocates.

On a Don Jr. podcast, Dr. Oz explained: “Your dad argues that diet soda is good for him because it kills grass – if poured on grass – so, therefore, it must kill cancer cells inside the body.”

Oncologists are quickly warning patients that no, diet soda does not kill cancer.
