UNICEF is on the ground in Ukraine, racing to scale up life-saving services for children and families as the conflict escalates as Russian tanks and bombs decimate cities.

The constant bombardment has damaged critical water and education facilities disrupted lives and weakened health and social services.

How they are helping:

  • UNICEF’s emergency response includes trucking safe water to conflict-affected areas
  • Establishing health, hygiene and emergency education supply centers as close as possible to communities near the line of contact
  • Supporting municipalities to ensure there is immediate help for children and families in need. UNICEF-supported mobile teams are also providing psychosocial care to children traumatized by the war and constant changes.

Children have been killed. Children have been wounded. And children are being profoundly traumatized by the violence all around them. We must protect all children in Ukraine. Now. They need peace. — UNICEF Executive Director Catherine M. Russell
