Brian Kelly, aka “The Points Guy.

Quick, you’re at the gas station — which card should you use to maximize your travel awards points? What about that fancy dinner out? If you’re like us, it’s too confusing and yet, those are those friends who seem to always earn free tickets. Instead of cursing their “luck” head over to The Points Guy, jet-setter Brian Kelly who has streamlined the process for the rest of us.

With his new app ‘TPG to Go,”(free from the Apple Store) you’ll have the tools to help earn free trips utilizing frequent flyer programs and miles. We also find his blog on TPG with its mix of travel advice and strategic planning to be entertaining and helpful.

Learn to use your credit cards based on your own personal spending habits. For example, if a consumer typically spends $200 per month on gas with a standard 1% cash-back credit card, TPG to Go might recommend a new credit card that offers 5% back on gas purchases. That new card would put an extra $96 in the consumer’s wallet over the course of a year. Or sign up for a credit card that offers a bonus 50,000 points. That single sign-up bonus is enough for a free business class ticket to Europe.
