As the world struggles with a soaring heat wave, the Middle East heat index reached 152 degrees, past what experts had previously believed humans could endure.

China set a record of nearly 126 degrees Fahrenheit, while Death Veally hit 128 degrees. And in Phoenix, they are enduring their 19 consecutive days above punishing 110 degrees.

As global warming accelerates, it is compounded by an El Nino climate pattern.

“We know these extreme temperatures are killing people right now,” said an expert.
