White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned in a huff Friday morning when President Donald Trump named former New York hedge fund executive Anthony Scaramucci as his communications director. The combative press secretary felt his role was diminished when Trump hired Scaramucci, even though his inner circle, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Steve Bannon among them, opposed the appointment. Reportedly, Trump was adamant about bringing Scaramucci, the founder of SkyBridge Capital, into the West Wing, as he has been a vocal supporter of the President.
