It was perhaps Biden’s most important news conference as he addressed the press on Thursday night.

After Biden’s widely panned debate performance two weeks ago and a fraught interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, the President tried to prove that he was cognitively up to the task of running the country for the next four years.

Biden did himself no favors by calling Vice President Harris “Vice President Trump” early in the questioning and then later by wrongly referring to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” but even four years ago the President was susceptible to these kind of flubs.

Naturally, the conservative press has been having a field day with these two gaffes, ignoring Biden’s smart answers on foreign affairs.

For many people, the press conference did little to allay their fears, while for others, it was a tepid performance at best.
