At the Westminster Dog Show in New York city, more than 2,800 dogs in 200 breeds were competing for the top prize in the show. Coming from over 49 states and 16 foreign countries, the pups are judged on characteristics specific to their breeds.

Rumor, a German shepherd, leaps to lick her handler and co-owner Kent Boyles after winning Best in Show.

Interestingly, there is no prize money for winning, instead, the payoff comes in breeding rights.

Chuckie, a one-year-old Pekingese, wins the Toy group competition.
