No stranger to controversy, hip-hop star Nicki Minaj called into the Ryan Seacrest radio show to talk about her racy cover art, and her new single  “Anaconda,” which features the self-proclaimed ‘ Queen of Rap’ rapping verses over samples of Sir Mix-A-Lot‘s dance, “Baby Got Back.” (You can hear it here.)

Nicki-Minaj-Anaconda Nicki has been teasing the single with the track’s risqué artwork  in which the “Super Bass” rapper is seen from the back, squatting in Air Jordans, a pink thong, and a matching sports bra.

Now we love a good dance song as much as the next gal, but this artwork is just a turn off. Considering she has such young fans, what message is she sending? Ryan asked her about the controversy:

‘Well you know, in the beginning of my career, I did pictures like that, I did photo shoots like that,’” she says. “And I didn’t want to lose that sense of who I am. I feel like one of the people I look up to the most was Madonna, and she’s never stopped pushing the envelope. She’s never stopped taking risks, and I don’t ever want to stop doing that either.”
