This past weekend a massive oil spill off the coast of Huntington Beach closed the coastline for miles and threatened local wildlife.

CNN meteorologist Chad Myers said today that the fallout from the massive oil spill could become “an environmental disaster” for the Huntington Beach wetlands area that is populated with wildlife.

Already, lifeless birds and fish have been spotted in the water.

The meteorologist said that the priority for responders is getting the “muck off the beach — but more importantly, away from the wildlife.”

The Coast guard has enforced a safety zone around the oil spill and fourteen specially equipped boats are doing ‘oil recovery while four aircraft are helping pinpoint the location of the largest oil slicks.

Fortunately, the leak appears to have stopped but investigations are continuing.
