At the height of his popularity, makeup artist Kevyn Aucion worked with hundreds of A-List celebrities, like Cindy Crawford, Janet Jackson , Cher and Gwyneth Paltrow. He charged $6000 for a makeup session and in 1987 did SEVEN Vogue covers in a row. (Sadly, he left us in 2001, dead from a rare tumor.)
His motto that it was far more important to help a woman feel beautiful no matter what, and that makeup was simply his tool for helping her discover herself, inspired his line of makeup.
Well, he left us with some great tools, namely his makeup line.
From the heavenly lip glosses ($30) to the airbrush foundation, the colors are beautiful, the ingredients luxurious, and almost all contain emollients that are good for your skin. Take the velvety smooth matt finish lipstick; the formula works to minimize wrinkles over time. What we love is that it’s smudge proof and lasts for hours. And just look at the colors! ($33.)
We usually not a lip gloss gal but we love the Aucion line with isn’t greasy or slippery and while it doesn’t last as long as the lipsticks, it holds it’s own for hours. Formulated with vitamins extracted from sunflower seed oil, castor oil, and lanolin oil, it doesn’t dry out our lips and the oils help keep the gloss shiny. A patented applicator mimics the look and feel of a “makeup artist’s” pinky finger, allowing for better application. Genius.
