Music’s Jeff Beck, easily one of the most influential guitarists in rock history, died on Tuesday at a hospital near his home in Surrey, England. He was 78.
The cause was bacterial meningitis.
Originally part of the Yardbirds (replacing Eric Clapton) he went on to form his own group with a little-known lead singer, Rod Stewart and a bassist named Ron Wood.
His guitar work influenced most guitar gods who followed him, including Jimmy Page and Pete Townshend.
