Is LA Losing Its Cool As It Becomes Cool?

New York creatives now say they love it. So do the French. Soho House is invading West and East. Is the embrace of Los Angeles by former capitals of LA-disdain a good thing? Or does LA risk losing what makes it so special?

Settle down, L.A. natives, it’s just the name of a panel discussion at DIEM: TALKS DESIGN event on November 13th at Design Within Reach. The one-day design symposium, presented by the West Hollywood Design District, features discussions, panels and keynote speakers from design, decorative arts, fashion, architecture and fine arts, asking some hard questions.

Another panel we don’t want to miss is the ….

12:30 p.m. Dog Day Afternoon at Amadi Home, 359 N Robertson Boulevard.

Just how much does your pooch shape your life – and your space? While attendees enjoy lunch, a dog-loving designer will riff on how canines shape our environments, against a sizzle reel of snaps of dogs kicking back at homeModerators: , & Frances Anderton.

Now we know we’re in L.A.

The day of design is complementary and free for those who register with talks taking place in key West Hollywood Design District Showrooms on Melrose, Robertson and Beverly Blvd (all located central near the Pacific Design Center).
