Early Wednesday morning Hurricane Maria raged across Puerto Rico, with wind speeds of 140 mph ripping off roofs and causing dangerous flooding throughout the island.

Nine people are dead, with the number likely to climb.

Gov. Ricardo Rossello has asked President Donald Trump to declare the island a disaster zone, so they could receive federal aid.
