A tradition for generations of families, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco—affectionately nicknamed ‘The Mark’ by locals—is famous for its holiday festivities. Located at the top of Nob Hill, the iconic hotel boasts spectacular views and is a must-see for most tourists.
From Thanksgiving on, the landmark hotel is in festive holiday mode, carving up an impressive Thanksgiving buffet with sweeping views from the Top of The Mark, to magical holiday teas, a classic Christmas dinner and sparkling New Year’s Eve, and then an indulgent New Year’s Day brunch. Imagine fabulous food with a sweeping view of the Bay.
Fun activities for the little ones include cookie decorating with the Pastry Chef, balloon art, face painting and getting up close and personal with the Grinch. Santa will be in the lobby for family photos (except on December 28) and the Lowell High School Choir will provide live entertainment (except on December 1 and 28).
The scrumptious ‘Magical’ tea includes assorted tea sandwiches with fillings like prosciutto and brie or pear and goat cheese, several flavors of scones with Devonshire cream and assorted fruit, and a mini-Chef’s table with family-friendly favorites such as Mac and Cheese and Chicken Fingers, and a Slider Station.
Magical Christmas Teas at ‘Top of the Mark’ are Saturdays and Sundays, December 1, 7 and 8, 14 and 15, 21 and 22 and 28. Two seatings: 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. Room closes at 2:00 pm. $115 per guest or $140 per guest over 21 with Bubbles Flight ($5 off with an unwrapped new toy donation).

The Christmas Day buffet is a crowd-pleaser, with delicacies such as Petite Filet with Cabernet Sauvignon and Morrel Mushrooms and Winter Succotash with Carrots, Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash, and Red Onions. Buffet stations representing the best of S.F. food include a ‘Fisherman’s Wharf’ with fresh seafood, a Caviar and Roe display with all the fixings, a North Beach station with charcuterie, a Dim Sum station, a selection of salads, French Onion Soup, and much more.
