All French President Emmanuel Macron wants is world peace.

The charismatic leader says now is the time for a worldwide truce so the world can focus on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Before you dismiss this as a pipe dream, Macron says he has secured the agreement with China, the US and that he was’optimistic’ about Russia.

“President Xi Jinping confirmed his agreement to me,” said Macron. “President Trump confirmed his agreement to me. Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed his agreement to me. I think President Putin will definitely agree too,’ Marcon said on French radio.

Joining in the call for a global ceasefire is  UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who says the only fight that matters now is the ‘shared battle’ against the virus.’

Pope Francis also called for an “immediate global ceasefire” and an end to weapons manufacturing in a special address after Easter mass on Sunday.
“This is not a time for continuing to manufacture and deal in arms, spending vast amounts of money that ought to be used to care for others and save lives,” he said.
As for Russia, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday: “Most likely, work is underway — at the expert level, our diplomats are working on this before we can join it. As soon as this work is completed and [passes] approval with other partners, relevant statements will be made.”
