After a long battle with Parkinson’s, French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, has died at the age of 86. Called the ‘Queen of Knitwear,’ Rykiel started her career as a window dresser at 17 but it was motherhood that got her hooked on fashion design, when she started knitting maternity dresses for herself.

The fashion icon was revered  by stars like Scarlett Johansson and Kate Bosworth, and her line of ready to wear clothes were also very successful. Rest in Peace.
