Last year she was stopped by the police at 25.5 miles after the bombs went off, and came back this year after surgery for cancer and with only 4 weeks to train.

“The spectators MADE that entire course….complete strangers pulling you through every HOT mile,” she says.

“My group of friends and family on Boylston was the best thing I have ever seen. I truly felt like a pro athlete as they all patted me on the back and cheered, Erika added. ” It was my Mom’s 75th birthday and to see her and my Dad cry….made me realize I did them PROUD. Best day of my life.”

Erika, and many like her, made Boston proud yesterday.
