Britain has a new Prime, Minister Rishi Sunak, the country’s third prime minister in seven weeks.
Notably, Sunak will be the first British Asian to become prime minister; the first nonwhite to take the top job; and at 42, he’ll also be the youngest prime minister in more than 200 years.
According to tradition, now Sunak will meet with King Charles to ask his permission to form a government.
After the vote, Sunak spoke briefly, saying:
“The United Kingdom is a great country, but there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge,” he added. “We need stability and unity, and I will make it my utmost priority to bring our party and our country together.”
