As had been expected, President Trump declared a national emergency Friday so he can grab take money from other areas of government to build his very expensive wall on the southern border. This allows Trump to ‘redirect federal money’ without Congress’s approval.

Democrats and some Republicans immediately called it an abuse of power, and House Democrats will move quickly to introduce legislation to block the president’s move. IF the Republicans who have publically criticized vote with the Dems, it has a chance of passing the house. What would Trump do then? Veto it.

What happens next? Democrats would take the issue to court. With any luck, it could be held up in the courts indefinitely — or at least until the midterm elections.
