OceanGate, who own and operates the Titan submersible, just announced that they believe the passengers of the Titanic-bound submersible have “sadly been lost.”

This comes after debris was discovered that is from the ‘external body of the sub,’ which indicates a massive implosion. Experts say the crew would have died instantly.

The remotely operated vehicle (ROV) found the tail cone of the Titan on the sea floor near the bow of the Titanic and other debris nearby, according to Rear Adm. John Mauger, the First Coast Guard District commander.

The debris was analyzed by experts, he said, and the families of the passengers were notified.

The sub could have suffered a crack which would make it implode under the intense underwater pressure. Again, the passengers wouldn’t have known what was happening.
