Hot on the heels of the two COVID vaccines –Pfizer and Moderna — who applied for emergency FDA approval last week, Oxford-AstraZeneca has just announced its COVID-19 vaccine is up to 90% effective.

The UK has already ordered 100 million doses, and the US already has a deal to purchase $1.2 billion.

And the Oxford developed vaccine has a big advantage over the Pfizer and Moderna models as it can be stored at normal refrigerator temperatures.

I think these are really exciting results,’ Dr Andrew Pollard, chief investigator for the trial, said.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is also cheaper at about $2.50 a dose, while Pfizer’s vaccine costs about $20 a dose, while Moderna’s is $15 to $25.
