Sure, sure, you go to Washington D.C. to see the statues, feel the history, take selfies with Abe Lincoln but there’s a really fun, delicious stop you should add to your itinerary. And yes, it’s Instagram worthy.
Locals know about the Logan Taverna neighborhood restaurant and bar ( 1423 P St. NW Washington) and lucky tourists, like us. It’s a charming place, with an outside patio and wonderful ambiance. The food is scrumptious and reasonable (by Washington standards.)
Tomato herb butter comes with the complimentary bread, and you’ll want to order more. Try the Ginger Calamari which is flash fried (small order $13.25.) Or go for the Watermelon and Avocado Salad with mesclun greens, cucumber, feta, jalapeno and turmeric ($11.75) which is as tasty as it sounds.
For entrees, you have your pick of numerous choices, such as burgers ($14 to $18), Steak Fajitas ($17.00), Boneless Southern Fried Chicken ($19.00) or the Blackened Salmon which comes in a pomegranate glaze, couscous, kale, roasted squash, garlic oil ($24.)

Fried Chicken with Mac n’ Cheese / Summer salad.

The real star of the menu though is the Mac n’ Cheese –goat cheese, fontina, bleu cheese($6.) Order it as a side, or go crazy and have it as an appetizer.
Don’t forget the drinks — the Logan Tavern makes perfect summer  ‘slushies’ like the Strawberry mule and Watermelon slushies which were perfect. Did we mention that it was the best service we had in D.C. (and we ate our way through the City:)
Put the Logan Tavern on your must-eat list when visiting Washington, D.C.
