Gone are the days when a face-lift was the only way to get rid of the dreaded double chin. Now there’s something called Kybella, made by the same company that brought you Botox, which can safely dissolve away the saggy chin.

Only a few doctors in the U.S. are trained in the procedure and lucky for us, one of them in right here in L.A. Dr. Sarshad, Founder of Cosmetique Aesthetics, answers our questions about this brand-new procedure:

What Is Kybella?

Dr. Sharshad :

Kybella is the first and only FDA approved injectable drug than contours and improves stubborn fatty areas, such as ‘double chins’. When injected into ‘submental fat’ target areas, it can literally destroy fat cells. Once these cells are destroyed, they cannot store or accumulate fat.

Kybella is identical to a deoxycholic acid, which is naturally produced by the body to absorb fat.

How many treatments are needed ?

Two to Four virals are needed for full correction per treatment.

Two to Three treatments are advised.

Who is a Candidate for Kybella?

This is a completely safe procedure for anyone that wants to eradicate stubborn fatty areas.

Since Khloe Kardashian has just been announced as the face (more like ‘chin’) of Kybela, expect to hear a lot more about this procedure. The catchy tag line for the new drug is ‘Live Chin Up.’ We certainly intend to.
