David Bowie, the enigmatic musician, died on Sunday, two days after his 69th birthday. Last Friday Bowie released what would be his last record — “Blackstar,” a collaboration with a jazz quartet where he eerily foreshadows his death.
Mr. Bowie had been treated for cancer for the last 18 months, according to a statement on his social-media accounts. “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family,” a post on his Facebook page read.
In David Bowie’s birthplace of Brixton, south London, fans gathered to pay tribute to the artist in front of a mural painted by street artist Jimmy C.
