As David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ blared on the cheery-red Tesla Roadster, safely secure inside the Falcon Heavy SpaceX, the rocket blasted into space this Tuesday morning.

A giddy Elon Musk told CNN, “People [came] from all around the world to see what will either be a great rocket launch or the best fireworks display they’ve ever seen.”

Powered by 27 engines, the main module will separate and send a perfectly good Tesla orbiting Mars, a mere 140 million miles away.

The successful launch today made history as the most powerful operational rocket in the world.
