After Meryl Streep called out Donald Trump as a bully who humiliated others on the Golden Globes Awards show Sunday, audiences breathlessly awaited a tweet from the President-elect.

But in a relatively mild response, Trump, in a brief telephone interview, said he had not heard Ms. Streep’s remarks, nor seen any of the Globes ceremony, and dismissed Meryl Streep as “a Hillary lover,” adding that he was “not surprised” that he had come under attack from “liberal movie people.”

Here’s Meryl:

“This instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing,” she said. “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”
