Rumor has it that Cupid loves the new Shade Redondo Beach ‘Sea Level’ restaurant and lounge. We’re not surprised. Watching the sunset go down over the ocean while savoring marinated tuna sashimi with a champagne cocktail is as lovey-dovey as it gets.  5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, they’re offering a sumptuous three-course, wine-paired menu priced at $75 per person. And don’t limit your V-day plans to just dinner; stay the night with a romantic overnight room package starting at $295. (Note: The VDay romance package is available all week and includes rose petals, bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries in your room upon arrival. )

If you snag a seat by the windows, you can watch the sunset at Mangiamo Ristorante & Bar in Manhattan Beach but for a cozy romantic spot, reserve a booth in the wine room in the back. (See photo below.)

The Northern Italian-inspired menu includes such entrees as mushroom risotto and penne with blackened chicken, with an impressive wine list. Come for the ambience, stay for the pasta. Note:  The restaurant does not permit flip-flops or the use of cell phones.

If a beach view is what your heart desires, you can’t do better than The Strand House in Manhattan Beach which overlooks the pier and the Pacific Ocean. A South Bay favorite, it’s known for it’s fresher-than-fresh seafood (try the shellfish tower) and Chef Greg Hozinsky’s  creative take on farm-to-table produce. For V-day,  think Maine Lobster Tail or Prime Ribeye with Molten chocolate cake for dessert. Check out the special Valentine’s Day menu.
