When Laurissa Kovacs posted a photo of a broken chair from her classroom on Facebook, endemic of the sorry state of many underfunded schools, she had no idea of the reaction it would get. Within a week, the Oklahoma teacher has received more than $44,000 in donated supplies. When concerned readers asked how to help, Kovacs created an Amazon registry where people can purchase school supplies such as markers, pencil sharpeners and, of course, chairs.

As she says on Amazon, the extra supplies are being shared with all the teachers! If you feel like donating to help out, just click on the registry to see what they still need. (Hint: staplers and dry erase markers.)
