For those who love a traditional high tea, served on fine china, with dainty sandwiches, savories, delicious pastries and all the ceremony that surrounds a proper tea, Vancouver Fairmont Hotel is the place to go in the northern city. From the decor at Notch8 in the grand hotel — decorated for Xmas when we were there — to the delectable finger sandwiches, tea scones, festive pastries (all made in house of course) and the choices of teas, it’s the perfect treat.

It’s hard to chose a favorite between the savory (smoked bacon & gruyere Tartlet, to name just one), the tea scones (Devonshire Clotted Cream with house Made Fruit Preserves), the tea sandwiches (curried free run chicken branston pickle on a Caraway Roll) and of course the festive pastries, which included gingerbread men, shortbread, Brandy Cherry Truffle, and a Pistachio White Chocolate Cake, so in keeping with the season, you eat everything. As one should.

Treat your kiddies to Bubblegum Tea (other varieties are available), finger sandwiches, fresh strawberries and cream, a giant chocolate chip cookie, mini jello and a seasonal fruit tartlet.
