Bet you didn’t know October 4th is National Vodka Day, but don’t worry, you still have time to mix up some celebratory concoctions.
We went straight to an expert to get some bespoke cocktails recipes to mix up in your own kitchen. Belvedere Vodka’s Head of Mixology and Spirit Creation, (who wouldn’t want that title?) Claire Smith, has created the ‘Gypsy King’ and the ‘(BELVEDERE)RED Hot Shot’ which will shake up any holiday.
First , some important history (yes, there will be a quiz later) : In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries in Poland, the birthplace of vodka, spirits were often flavored with honey, herbs or fruits. Belvedere has enhanced and perfected these techniques today through our unique maceration process of soaking flower petals, fruit peels or fresh fruit in luxury vodka – creating the finest flavored vodka known to man. Whether you prefer your vodka Pure or flavored, these cocktails are sure to please even the most discerning vodka drinker. So pick your flavor and raise your glass to toast National Vodka Day!
1.5 oz Belvedere Vodka
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
1 oz Pineapple syrup
2 bar spoons Benedictine
2 dashes Peychaud Bitters
Shake and strain into a martini glass
Garnish with a lemon twist

1 oz (BELVEDERE)RED
¼ oz Chambord black raspberry liqueur
½ oz pineapple juice
Shake and pour into a chilled shot glass.
EFFEN vodka had us at the first sip. The experts at the company tell us that the smooth taste is due to “continuous rectification”—perfected over many years—in which the liquid circulates within giant stainless steel columns. This distillation happens at lower temperatures than other vodkas to avoid carmelization (the harsh alcohol taste that can be caused by traces of burnt sugar). Who knew? Known for the range of daring flavors, including Black Cherry, Dutch Raspberry, Cucumber and Salted Caramel, we asked for two ‘wild’ recipes — and that’s what we got. Enjoy!
1 1/2 parts EFFEN® Salted Caramel Vodka
1 1/2 parts Sweetened Illy® Mocha Coffee
In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with mocha coffee beans.
1 1/4 parts EFFEN® Salted Caramel Vodka
1/2 part Ruby Port
1/2 part Simple Syrup
3/4 part Fresh Lemon Juice
In a mixing glass, combine first 4 ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into a highball glass over ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon wheel and brandied cherry.
