Anne Hathaway is acutely aware that sometimes she comes across as not the most “likable” of stars, and after her emotional Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA acceptance speeches, she became the butt of everyone’s jokes.
So the star was determined to get her speech just right on Oscar night. So much so, a source reveals to Us Weekly that Hathaway practiced her thank-you for the Oscars.
And while she kept it together during her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables, backstage her composure faltered and she broke down in tears when asked about her victory by the press.
“I had a dream… and it came true,” she sobbed.
She also admitted that while she does try to brush off the negative comments, it does hurt her feelings.
“It does get to me,” Hathaway, 30, said. “But you have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive.”
Watch the raw footage below (the crying kicks in at the 5.26 minute mark), and let us know after watching the clip, if she is now more “likable” in your eyes.
