One day, the students in Florida were students; the next, survivors of a horrific school shooting that took 17 of their friends.

In the wake of the shooting, these ‘children’ have started a nation-wide protest against gun violence and the movement is snowballing.

“A lot of people look down on teenagers and think we’re kids and can’t have thoughts,” said one eloquent student. “But these protests made me realize my peers notice what’s happening — they’re not ignorant. We’re all feeling the same thing. Seeing kids my age [at Stoneman Douglas] do that and get attention really makes me want to do more too.”

Instead of sending ‘prayers and love’ these amazing youngsters are telling the Nation to wake up and pass gun control legislation.

By using social media, the communication mode of their generation, they have gown the protest with marches planned on Washington and around the country.

Let’s hope this is the tipping point.
