By Hollywood standards, 18 years is an eternity.
So the news that Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are divorcing is sending ripples through Tinseltown.
Griffith, 56, has reportedly filed for divorce from 53-year-old Antonio Banderas, according to TMZ.
The actress has cited irreconcilable differences, though the split is said to be “amicable.”
In a statement sent from their rep to People, the former couple says, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
Griffith is asking for child support and sole physical and joint legal custody of their 17-year-old daughter Stella. She is said to have hired power attorney Laura Wasser.
The couple that fell in love on the set of the 1995 film Two Much.
It will be Griffith’s fourth divorce and Banderas’ second divorce.
